New Year 2005 - All The Best To You West Spring

Countdown to 2006 now.

In less than 24 hours (even lesser depending when you're reading this) we will be welcoming a brand new year. A time of joy, a time of celebration, a time for new beginnings. 2005 - Let's make it a great year in our lives. To remember. To live. To give. To persevere. To win.

Never quit, never surrender. Not in the exam halls nor on the competition playing fields.

Let's make a date to be here for the countdown to 2005 - Blogspot style - for those of you who will be on the PC this new year. For this special occasion, I have saved a special treat for everyone. A song for all of us to sing together come midnight tonight- Voices That Care. Those who log in early may practice first (lol) but make sure we syncronise our PCs together to play this one at exactly midnight on our counter. Tag to wish everyone a great and prosperous new year ahead.

Let's include in our 2005 Resolutions, whatever they may be, to give our best and bring glory to this school - even long after you have left this school. This will be our year West Spring!!

Voices That Care Lyrics

Lonely fear lights up the sky
Can't help but wonder why
You're so far away

There, you had to take a stand
In someone else's land
Life can be so strange

I wish we never had to choose
To either win or lose
That we could find a way (We could find a way)

But I won't turn my back again
Your honour I'll defend
So hurry home, and 'til then (til then)

Chorus:
Stand tall, stand proud!
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright (hurry homeā€¦ ooh)

I'm not here to justify the cause
Or to count up all the loss
That's all been done before

I just can't let you feel alone
When there's so much love at home
We're sending out to you

All the courage that you've known
The bravery you've shown
Clearly lights the way

We pray to make the future bright
To make the wrong things right

Right or wrong, we're all praying you remain strong
That's why we're all here and singing along

-Repeat Chorus-

You are the voice
You are the light

-Repeat Chorus-

28 Dec 04 - A New Chapter

Opening address by Mr Harphal Singh. West Spring has waited for 4 years for a school building to call our own.

28 December 2004 marked as a historic occasion for West Spring Secondary.

Led by Mr Raj and Mr Simon Gan, 38 runners represented by the various classes & CCAs ran from the former campus at Teck Whye Secondary School to the new campus at Senja - West Spring's New Home. They were greeted by our own lion dance troope at the entrance of the new building to auspiciously welcome the runenrs and the all-important school flag. This was followed by a brief but significant flag raising ceremony. The entire school sang the West Spring school song in unison for the very first time in the new building. An opening address by our principal as he remembers the trials and tribulations to acquire this new building.

The rest of the school population & parents had joined in the event. Students were brought on a tour of their classrooms and the school's facilities. We saw many bright and elated faces of the students as they gasped in amazement at the sheer size of the school's compound and its numerous facilities. It was double celebrations for the new Secondary 1 students - to cross over to secondary school life & the experience to study in a brand new building. The alumni students also joined in the celebrations. Most were moving on to junior colleges, polytechnics and ITEs and shared the good news to both teachers and friends while they toured the new campus.

Congratulations West Spring! Let's live up to the challenge of building a great name for the school. Work hard and perservere from now to bring greater glory to West Spring in all areas - academic and sports.

Happy to use the new stage for posing session. Posted by Hello

Despite the BlogMaster's busy schedule, he literally squeezes time to take good photos for the school and to capture the best West Spring moments. Kindly do not avoid his camera - it's superbly irritating to coax people. Luckily this shot turned out fine. Notice someone trying to hide behind this gal. Oh there was also her 7 other classmates (I suppose) who fled just before the shot was taken. PLEASE NEVER do this again. I only publish the best shots of all of YOU. DON't avoid my lenses. Just be yourself and be cool. Posted by Hello

Watch out someone has the liscence to brag. This is her Power Blogger Certificate. This is one elusive certificate to obtain. Well, the rest of you will just have to wait for your turn. Quak Yongsheng was our 3000th visitor, if you must know. And Fiona Lau. Maybe there should be a ceremony for them on the 28th (tomorrow). Seems that all the Alumnis are grabbing the Power Blogger certificates. Posted by Hello

Ria Raihanah's our lucky 4000th visitor to the school blog. This is the print screen evidence that we are looking for if you happen to be the next millenium visitor. Posted by Hello

Can pictures be any better than this?

Needless to say, the teachers were glowing.

Tired but happy prefects. Joyce still being detained.

Prefects caught some students not in school uniform but decided to take pictures first before taking them to test out the detention classrooms. Come properly attired (and haircuts) for the 28th!

Meanwhile at the other end of the school, Ratna was taking care of the classes and groupings.

"Miss, what about school uniforms? Secondary 1 already long pants? Wow!"

Some tried very hard to communicate in sign language about the new school to puzzled prefects.

"Oh yeah, I think the entire school is like 20 times the size of this hall - that's not including the school field., there will be plenty of walking around. Thank you have a nice day."
