Well, I just needed to make this blog entry. Though officially West Spring had no part in the Singapore Idol, but I bet West Spring students sent in hundreds... (maybe into thousands) of sms'es or those who called in to vote their Singapore Idol. Please tag the tagboard to verify that you voted! I know Karen, Fiona & Jiawen did. I suppose if you own a handphone or rather someone in your family owned one, chances are you sms'ed ;>

Today 1 December 04 needs to be remembered as Singapore crowns in her first Singapore Idol. It was a hallmark event - on the streets frenzied teenage girls, appreciative busy auties, smittened grandmothers, opinionated-street savvy taxi drivers, starched white-collared office workers, coffeshop caffine addicts spoke only of one subject - "Taufik & Sly - Who's gonna be the One?"

The media was set ablazed with more coverage of an event 6 months in the making.

3 million votes were sent in thats what Mr Gurmit Singh said - (the math teacher in me counted...that's S$1.5million Singapore dollars generated in 2 hrs!). We as a school gotta learn how to raise this kind of funds.

Sylvester "Rocker" Sim belted out his rock numbers while Taufik "RnB" Batisha proved 3 times over that he was versatile in any music genre. what was that Mrs Jones song? I never heard that one before but it sounded good (for awhile I thought Taufik's gone - remember the wierd look on Gurmit Singh's face when he announced Taufik's song?).

I think the coolest gesture tonight was when Taufig shared the mike with Sylvester to sing the finale "I Dream...". A gesture never happened in any of the International Idol series - only in Singapore. We are headed for great things indeed Singapore..

On behalf of WSSS, I would like to wish Taufik Batisa the very best in his future directions in the entertainment indistry. And Sylvester Sim the Rocker - no worries coz in the end both finalists will always go BIG!

PS - West Spring Idol 2005. It's gonna be BIGGER!!!
