"...In my mind, I can climb all the mountains that surround me..."

The consecutive raining spell did not dampen the moods of West Spring teachers and students as we set forth for our annual sports meet at Choa Chu Kang sports stadium. The fair weather was indeed a pleasant surprise after witnessing heavy downpour from Monday. Indeed nature was kind to us on that day. Perhaps it was a handsome reward for the hard work that the PE department and student leaders had put in for the preparations of the sports meet.

Another highlight of the day was the feast to the eyes as we saw the creative juices of students showcased in their class T-shirts. Each class had a unique class T-shirt which was designed by themselves. This year’s trend seemed to be inclined to jerseys as we saw many classes clad in jerseys of various colours and designs. Their pet names and numbers imprinted at the back of the T-shirt. It was definitely a sight to behold.

As the racing events were declared open by Mr Harphal Singh, the whole stadium was overcome by euphoria as classes began cheering for their classmates who were participating in events. The sports meet was made even more exciting with the lively compering by Miss Narimah and Miss Shahidah.

Eventually we had winners who won the race, T-shirt designing contest and cheering competitions. However the most important thing in sports is not to have won but to have taken part just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

The nice pictures are courtesy of BlogM2 Karenn. She was on the photo prowl that day to capture some of best class photos (at Sports day) I've seen yet.

Sigh Sports Day 2006 is such a long time away.
